Web Site Facelift! Of Wallabys and Licorice
Dec 022009

I’ve been spending this evening getting to know my new toy, an HP laptop with Windows 7.

It’s been a while since I got a new computer (well, a Windows computer that I intend to actually make useful, as opposed to an iMac!) and I forgot how much there is to set up.  Of course right out of the box I was able to browse the web and do basic tasks, but it’ll be a while before I’ve got my e-mail transferred over and all of my development tools installed.

Early returns are quite positive, however.  With a new quad-core processor and a very decent video system (for a laptop), it’s real shiny.

Got tired of the iMac already??? After a couple weeks, what’s the scoop on Windows 7? Yay or nay?

I tried to leave a comment, but it didn’t seem to accept it. Can I not leave comments???

Well, as you can see now, it was just waiting for your first ever comment to be approved in the system. I believe from this point on you should be able to comment freely on any posts, as long as you use the same user info.

Oh, and to answer your question… the iMac is a desktop, and I can’t quite justify paying the $$$ for a MacBook (at least, not the ones that are nice enough to be usable). The HP that I got is about 1/2 the price of a comparable MacBook!

As for Windows 7 — meh. So far it doesn’t seem a whole lot better than Vista. There are some nifty little features of the interface, but nothing earth-shattering. I wouldn’t rush right out and buy an upgrade for an existing computer, but I wouldn’t hesitate to get it with a new computer (as if you have any choice now, anyhow…)
